About

Picsean Media Private Limited was a Bangalore-based startup operating in the digital publishing and media sector around 2010. The company specialized in transforming print publications into interactive and animated digital experiences for Apple users, with these enhanced editions made available on Apple’s Newsstand. Picsean also expanded its business across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) regions, growing its presence in the digital publishing industry.

I joined Picsean as part of its inception team, helping secure its initial client base, which laid the foundation for the company’s growth. When I started, we were a four-person creative team working with three national magazines. Over time, we scaled to a 30-person team managing multinational magazine editions across various regions. Our portfolio grew to include renowned publications such as Playboy, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, National Geographic, and its subsidiaries like National Geographic Kids.

My Role

As a conceptual thinker on the UX team, I collaborated closely with the development team to craft engaging, interactive experiences specifically for iPad users. This was before tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD—our workflow relied entirely on Adobe Creative Suite, using Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator for UX design. Given our tight startup budget, we conducted all user testing internally and in-person, with neighboring companies frequently volunteering as users. Comprehensive competitor analysis helped us stay aligned with industry standards.

Our work played a crucial role in bridging traditional print media with emerging digital platforms, shaping immersive experiences that defined the company’s trajectory in the digital publishing space.
